Virbhadra asks people to cooperate in exposing corruption

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today sought the cooperation from people to help weed out corruption from the state, saying the government was initiating required steps in this connection.
The state government aims at providing a transparent and accountable administration, he said while addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stone of a government high school here.
The state government sought the support of people to expose cases of corruption and help bring the guilty to book, he said.
Education remains among the top priorities for the state government, he said.
Rs 3,836 crore would be spent in the education sector this year and a provision of Rs 63 crore made for construction of middle and senior secondary schools, he said.
Later presiding over the review meeting of Irrigation and Public Health department, Singh assured irrigation facilities to the farmers.
As many as 2500 habitations will be provided 70 LPCD potable water and 2000 hand pumps would be installed in drought prone habitations during this financial year, he said, adding over 90 per cent families were using tap water and all the remaining habitation would be covered by 2017.
Singh said a proposal is in the pipeline for execution of a lift water supply to meet the water shortage Shimla by lifting the water from Kol Dam.
