Virbhadra launches 2nd phase of pulse polio immunisation drive

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today launched the second phase of pulse polio immunisation drive in Himachal Pradesh by administering drops to children below the age of five years at Jawalamukhi in Kangra district.
As many as 6,83,536 children in the age group of 0-5 years were covered under the drive and 5,868 booths were set up throughout the state. 11,736 teams were constituted by the state health department with a total work force of 23,472, Kangra's Chief Medical Officer B M Gupta said.
As many as 1,070 polio booths were set up in Kangra to cover 1,34,402 children under pulse polio programme.
