Tourist visa on arrival facility has been extended to four more airports in the country — Bangalore, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
The facility of visa on arrival can be availed by citizens of 11 countries in these airports in addition to four already designated international airports — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Citizens of Japan, Singapore, Finland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietn- am, Philippines, Myanmar and Indonesia — can avail the facility in the eight airports, a Home Ministry official said.
The visa on arrival facility would also be extended to Goa airport as soon as infrastructure and manpower requirements are in place, the official said.
The airport operator BIAL (Bangalore International Airport Ltd) has made arrangements at the international arrival lounge to issue the on-arrival visas, with separate seating facility and help desks in the immigration area. To ensure the visitors leave the city on expiry of the visa, they will have to produce a copy of the return ticket, hotel confirmation in the city or state and local contact, if any.
