The company also unveiled mVisa, a new mobile payment service that will be tested in India later this year with merchants across the Bengaluru region and with customers of few selected banks.
"The technology centre here in Bengaluru, it is our second largest engineering facility outside the US... We have recruited about 400 employees in less then ten months, over time we will have nearly 1,000 employees here. They will be focusing on digital, mobile innovation, platforms..." Visa Inc EVP Technology Rajat Taneja told reporters here.
Visa's new 1,00,000 sq ft technology centre located at Bagmane World Technology Center in the city is a combination of office and collaboration spaces that will be home for 1,000 Visa developers.
"We are just tremendously excited to have a facility of this size and scale here in India, especially here in Bangalore. It is the second largest facility across the globe... The resources that we have in India, the talent that we can draw is some thing that attracted us to have the facility," Visa Inc Chief Executive Officer Charles W Scharf said.
"As we continue to build up the staff here to get up to that 1,000 employee mark, we know it is going to be extraordinarily important for our success in future," he added.
