Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the East Coast Railway's Visakhapatnam Division, Anil Kumar, said that it had performed well in both passenger and freight traffic during 2012-13 to became one of the few divisions in Indian Railways to surpass its target.
Addressing a gathering in connection with Railway Week celebrations here today, he said that the freight loading division achieved an originating load of 51.54 tonnes to become one of the few Indian Railways divisions with loads of more than 50 tonnes.
He said revenue earnings had also crossed Rs 5,000 crore and touched Rs 5,275 crore during 2012-13.
The load increase is mainly due to increase in loading of iron ore, gypsum, alumina, steel and other products.
