Visit markets in Delhi on daily basis: Delhi govt to Weights

In order to check "malpractices" in electronic, manual and weighing instruments, Delhi government today directed the Weights and Measures Department to visit markets in the capital on a daily basis and submit "periodic" reports.
The directions were issued by Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain who asked the department that if the erring instruments are being used by the shopkeepers and other agencies, it will deeply affect the rights of the consumers.
He directed the officials to ensure that the norms of Packaged Commodity Rules are strictly followed by the shopkeepers, manufacturers and dealers.
The minister emphasized on the accurate stamping of auto taxi metres, stamping of nozzles at petrol pumps, electronic weighing machines and manual weighing instruments.
