The lifeguards spotted the jellyfish washed ashore along the Baina-Betalbatim-Velsaobeach belt in South Goa on Friday, Drishti Lifesaving agency said in a release issued here yesterday.
The agency has informed the state tourism department about it and cautioned the visitors on the beaches to stay alert and safe, it said.
The jellyfish are of two kinds - toxic and non-toxic. While most jellyfish stings are harmless to humans and cause only a mild irritation, in very rare cases some jellyfish species are venomous and can cause harm on contact, the release said.
