Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today said the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US and Barack Obama to India had strengthened the relationship between the two countries, promoting trade and commerce.
The visits opened new vistas in IT, energy, education, aerospace and human resource, a Raj Bhavan release quoted the Governor as having said when the US Consul General in Chennai, Philip A Min called on him.
Min said India and US "share an extensive cultural, strategic, military and economic relationship," even as more US companies were looking forward to invest in Tamil Nadu.
"Min stated that US companies like Ford, Caterpillar and others have made investments in Chennai and there are many companies which are looking forward for more avenues since there is a conducive investment climate in Tamil Nadu," it said.
Tamil Nadu was a peaceful state, known for its industrial friendly policies, he said.
Rao hailed Tamil Nadu for excelling in urbanisation with road, air, sea and rail connectivity, while also stating that it offers 'quality education.'
