vivo forays into India smartphone mkt with X5Max for Rs 32,980

Chinese handset maker vivo today forayed into the multi-billion Indian smartphone market with the launch of X5Max for Rs 32,980.
Launched in partnership with media giant Viacom18, the company plans to introduce 4-5 models over the next few weeks, priced between Rs 7,000-40,000.
"We have partnered with Viacom18, which has both young trendy target consumers and music feature in common with vivo. Our key focus is to continue our commitment to provide consumers with better products and services," vivo Mobile India CEO Jacky Liao told reporters here.

Electronics Corp bags Industrial Excellence Award * Electronics Corporation of India (ECIL), a Central PSU, has been awarded the prestigious INS Industrial Excellence Award for 2013 in recognition of its contribution in the nuclear field.
The award has been instituted by the Indian Nuclear Society (INS). The PSU functions under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

ECIL Chairman and Managing Director P Sudhakar received the award from Prof P Rama Rao, Chairman, Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (an advisory body under DAE), at the inaugural function of 25th annual conference of INS here today, the company said in a statement.

Wipro implements solution for Al Rajhi Bank * IT services firm Wipro today said it has implemented Oracle FAHGL programme for Al Rajhi Bank, one of the largest Islamic banks in the world.
This two-year programme has helped Al Rajhi Bank move from the legacy system to Oracle FAHGL.

Uninor pledges support to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan * As part of its pledge to support government's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, telecom firm Uninor has signed up with the Varanasi city administration.
The company is creating a blueprint for waste management across major public areas in the city and to generate public awareness of keeping the holy city clean, a statement said.
