Vocational training for rehabilitation of drug abuse patients

Jammu and Kashmir Police today launched a month-long vocational training course for rehabilitation of drug abuse patients in collaboration with University of Kashmir.
The month-long Electrical Technician course is being organised by the university's Directorate of Lifelong Learning in collaboration with Police Drug De-addiction Centre, Srinagar for rehabilitation of drug abuse patients who have been cured or are being treated to offer them sustenance and support for getting back into the mainstream.
The course was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Abdul Gani Mir and Registrar, University of Kashmir, Zaffar Ahmad Reshi at the Police Control Room, here.
The IGP said the Police Drug De-addiction Centre was launched here in 2007 as a flagship initiative to cater to patients of drug abuse and has made remarkable contribution in treating the youth in such disorders and is emerging as referral centre.
Reshi said the University of Kashmir has started numerous programmes for betterment of the society and the issue of drug abuse is being tackled on priority.
He said the University of Kashmir will provide all help to the police in such initiatives in the future as well.
