Vodafone launches 3G services on own network in Shillong

Vodafone India today launched 3G mobile services on its own network here.
Vodafone's 3G customers in Shillong would now avail faster data browsing experience at existing 3G tariff, company's Assam and North-East business head Alok Verma said.
Till January 12, Vodafone had been offering 3G services in Assam and North East circles through bilateral intra-circle roaming (ICR) pacts with other carriers.
Vodafone has so far deployed 68 new 3G towers and would continue to add more to provide high-speed services to the customers, Verma said.
The facility will help customers make video calls, watch live TV, download large email attachments and music tracks faster etc, he said.
The service has been improved after the company made significant investments over of Rs 500 crore for faster 3G services on its own network in North East markets, Verma said.
Vodafone India has been focusing on closer engagement with customers to use mobile internet, he said adding, the company also launched its 3G experience cards free of cost, through which customers can avail 3G services of 30 MB for a day.
