Vodafone launches Safe Drive Campaign

Aiming to reduce drunken driving during the festive season, Vodafone India, one of India's leading telecommunication service providers, today launched a unique initiative - 'Safe Drive Campaign'.
The initiative was launched in association with Motors Vehicle Department, a press release said.
This is in line with company's long-term commitment to achieve highest standards of health, safety and well-being in and around the community that it operates in. Keeping in mind the party season, the 'Safe Drive Campaign' will be held till Jan 2 advising and educating people to follow safe driving practices.
The campaign will focus on urging motorists to wear helmets, while driving and making helmets must for two-wheeler riders as well as pillion riders, avoid drunken driving, stop using mobile phones while on wheels and avoid over speeding and rash driving. The workshop will enlighten the drivers on the need to drive responsibly.
As a part the campaign, the public will be given a 'message in a bottle' - a note inside a bottle appealing to the driver to be safe and creating awareness about the consequences of drunken driving.
The 'message in a bottle' will also be given to all employees urging them to drive safe. A booklet on safety will also be given to public in participation with employees.

With Private buses and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) being used by a majority of people in the state, Vodafone India urged the bus commuters to be part of the 'Safe Drive Campaign' with the 'Safest Bus' contest. It gives bus commuters the power to choose the safest bus in their respective towns.
The commuters can participate in the contest by voting for the best bus by simply sending the name and number of the bus. The bus which receives the maximum votes will be declared as the Safest Bus.
Speaking on the launch of the 'Safe Drive Campaign', S. Murali, Business Head - Kerala, Vodafone India, said there is usually an alarming rise in drunken driving mishaps around the festive time. Vodafone takes this opportunity to urge keralites and those travelling to the city, to follow road safety rules and welcome the New Year safely, he said.
