Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today extended warm greetings to the people on the eve of Christmas.
In a message, the Governor said the teachings of Jesus Christ, the apostle of peace, compassion and brotherhood, have guided human beings towards righteousness.
He observed that the message of Lord Christ is perhaps more relevant today than ever before, when the world is ridden with hatred, greed, intolerance and violence.
The Governor expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would help strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, secularism and high traditions of pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries.
The Governor wished the people a merry Christmas and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the state.
In his greetings message on Christmas, the Chief Minister said that Jesus preached love, brotherhood, peace, tolerance and selfless service to the mankind.
His message "is as relevant today as it has been always," Omar added, and prayed for peace and development of the state and the country.
