Voting for 2 municipal wards held in Nashik

Bypolls for two seats of corporators were held in Nashik Road area today where MNS, ruling Nashik Municipal Corporation, is contesting on its own strength against Sena, BJP, Congress, and NCP.
Also in the fray are candidates from Shiv Sena, and BJP who are contesting separately, whereas the NCP, Congress and People's Republican Front are fighting unitedly for ward numbers 35 (b) and 36 (b).
MNS has fielded Shantabai Shejval wheres Vrushali Nahate is in the poll arena from Sena, Mandabai Dhikale (BJP), and Vandana Chalisgaonkar (NCP) from ward no. 35-B.
Candidates from ward no. 36-B are Sunil Shelar (Sena), Pravin Pawar (MNC), Shashikant Unhavane (Congress) and Sunanda More (BJP).
The byelections were necessitated following disqualification of Shobhana Shinde (35 B) and Nilesh Shelar (36 B) by district Collector for joining other parties.
A total of 19 polling centres were set up for voting.
"City police made elaborate arrangement at polling centres," said DCP Shrikant Dhavare.
Counting of votes will be done tomorrow.
