The post mortem on Sharma's body was conducted by a three-member expert panel at Safdarjung hospital and the report is awaited.
The police have also decided to go for histopathology tests on samples of the deceased which will be conducted locally.
The histopathology tests provide a detailed analysis of blood, tissues and DNA samples giving possible causes of death which helps the investigators, said a senior officer.
Sharma's body, found at a hotel room here on July 4, had signs of 'choking' as indicated by passing of stool and urine.

The police have also prepared a document detailing his movements from the time he arrived in the hotel at Dwarka in South West Delhi, till the time he was seen alive.
Statements of over half-a-dozen persons, including those who saw him or interacted with him during his stay here, have also been recorded, said the officer.
Sharma, who was associated with probe to identify Vyapam scam admissions in his medical college, was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday, a day after Akshay Singh, a journalist of the TV Today group on the scam trail, mysteriously died minutes after he had interviewed the parents of a deceased girl accused.
