"Some people including Waheedaji and Salim Khanji met me today and apprised me of their reservation against building of a public toilet in vicinity of their houses," Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar told PTI.
"After going through their submissions, I have asked the local ward officer to go through the legalities or illegalities involved in construction of this toilet," the mayor said.
Rehman, Khan and other local residents have been vehemently opposing the construction of a toilet block, which the civic authority has been building at Bandstand promenade in Bandra.
The mayor said, "When the civic body creates a new facility somewhere, it normally invites suggestions and objections from the public and if the public objects to it, the corporation does not go ahead with the project forcibly."

"A similar case appears to be here and that is why I have asked the local ward officer to have a rethink on it and go only by the rule-book," added the mayor.
Salman's NGO 'Being Human' is supporting the cause.
Salim and Waheeda have already clarified that they are not opposing installation of toilet blocks, but opposing the location of the toilet.
"We support the move on installing toilets as public facility. But if this toilet is built in the middle of promenade, there will be a mess and it will create nuisance," Salim had said.
