Wanted arms manufacturer arrested

An arms manufacturer, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was arrested along with his close aide, police said today.

Bachan Singh alias Bacchu Singh (37) has been accused of supplying arms to gangsters as well as criminals in Delhi and its neighbouring areas.

A team of Crime Branch was stationed in Sendhwa, Madhya Pradesh to nab him. On the intervening night of May 10 and 11, Singh was nabbed from the jungles of Balwadi, Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Deo said.

During investigation, the Crime Branch learnt that Singh was involved in manufacturing illegal arms in remote areas of Madhya Pradesh, the police said.

Efforts were made to nab him, but he evaded the arrest, the police said, adding a reward of Rs 50,000 was declared on his arrest.

For the last eight months, the Crime Branch was gathering information about his hideouts.

Singh revealed that he deployed carriers for taking the consignment of illegal arms to different destinations. In the recent past, more than 10 carriers and receivers of Singh have been arrested by the police of different states, Deo said.

He was wanted in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra for his involvements in cases, wherein he supplied weapons to various criminal gangs.

One of his receivers Noor Mohammad was nabbed yesterday from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. A consignment of 20 illegal arms was procured by Mohammad from Singh about a week ago.

The police have recovered 14 semi-automatic pistols, six pistols and 10 spare magazines from the accused.
