Wanted criminal, associates nabbed in Andhra Pradesh

A man, wanted for his alleged role in several cases of robbery, and his three associates have been arrested by Karnataka Police in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, Kunigal Giri and his group was planning to kill a All India Majlis-e Ittihad al-Muslimin (AIMIM) leader, however, police refused to confirm it.
The four men were arrested last night from Hindupur town of Anantpur, police said.
"On information that Kunigal Giri is hiding with his associates, police travelled to Hindupur last night to nab him," City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar told PTI.
Giri, who sustained injury as he met with an accident while trying to escape, was later shifted to Hindupur government hospital.
"While Giri is currently under Andhra Pradesh police custody, his three associates have been brought to Bangalore", he said.

The officer declined to comment on reports that Giri's group was planning to assassinate an AIMIM leader, saying, "I don't know about it."
While bringing back the three associates of Giri to Bangalore, one of them named Govinda tried to escape near Devanahalli, following which police fired at him injuring his leg. He was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
Giri is wanted in number of offences including dacoities and robberies.
