Acting on a tip-off, the police in mufti led by Superintendent of Police (city) Karthik S surrounded the rented house of the criminal Maya Bhagat alias Lulha, Senior Superintendent of Police, A V Homkar said.
When Bhagat was asked to surrender he fired on the police which fired back killing him, he said.
Bhagat, a resident of Siwan in Bihar, was wanted by the police in several cases in Jharkhand and Bihar including the murder of a man and a woman on January one in Sankosai locality and shooting of a businessman in Jugsalai here recently.
