several crimes, was apprehended after an encounter with police on Bada Mahuri Road in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said today.
The encounter with Dilip Nayak(32), who is wanted in at least eight crimes in Ganjam district, took place yesterday, police said.
A police team had apprehended Nayak during patrolling and he attempted to escape by firing at police, said Dillip Das, sub-divisional police officer of Purushottampur.
The accused fired one round at police personnel, who, in retaliation, fired two rounds in the air, he said adding no police personnel was injured.
Later, police seized a mouser, ammunition and a motorcycle from the man, who was admitted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital and doctors said he is out of danger.
