Wanted man on the run for 21 years held

A man, wanted in a series of crimes across north India in 1990s and was on the run for 21 years, has been arrested by Delhi Police after a brief encounter.
Manoj Kumar Shehrawat, alias Sanjay (46), who belongs to Bawana in Delhi but was now residing in Ahmedabad, was arrested following a tip-off on Monday from Najafgarh area of Delhi. One sophisticated pistol, 3 live and 2 fired cartridges and a SUV have been recovered from his possession.
"With his arrest, 20-year-old cases including a sensational double murder in Rohtak and a robbery of several kg of gold worth Rs 35 lakh then (whose current value stands at Rs seven crore) of Meham, Haryana, have been worked out. He and his accomplice Jagmal were top wanted criminals for more than a decade.
"In the year 1994, they went to Meerut and kidnapped two girls who were daughters of an MLA. Later, Manoj and Jagmal married both of them, Asha and Manju, respectively," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
