'War Memorial' in Har to depict 1857 history with sound, light

History of the country's First War of Independence will be depicted with a sound and light show at the Rs 120-crore 'War Memorial' proposed to be set up in Ambala, wherefrom the Mutiny had begun in 1857.
The war memorial would display historical events of the freedom struggle "from Ambala to Rangoon and information about all known and unknown freedom fighters of Haryana would also be inscribed," Haryana's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Anil Vij said here today.
Presiding over a meeting, he said, "As per an estimate about 3,500 persons had lost their lives in the 1857 struggle, out of which about 1,100 have been identified. Not only this, at that time the British had completely destroyed 115 village," he said.
The "First War of Indian Independence had started from Ambala on May 10, 1857," he was quoted as saying in an official release here.
Vij also said that the memorial would project important historical incidents pertaining to India's freedom struggle.
