Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said the first phase of the 'Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan' to conserve water and restructure its various ground and surface sources would be launched in 3,563 villages from Jhalawar on January 27.
Altogether 21,563 villages would be covered in four years in different phases with first phase beginning in Jhalawar district on January 27, Raje said in a media interaction here.
Besides the general public, state government has sought support of different sections of society including officials, public representatives, social and religious organisations and corporate houses to make the campaign a success.
Raje also called upon various organisations to adopt villages or water bodies in urban areas for this project.
Noting that Rajasthan is the most water-scarce state of the country, Raje said a campaign for water conservation was an important step in the direction of resolving this crisis.
"This being the reason, I have invited all political parties and organisations for participating in the water campaign," she said.
