Owing to good rainfall in the catchment areas of dams in the recent days, the district administration today announced the withdrawal of water cuts in Pune city.
From Monday onward, the city, which has been getting water on alternate days for the last one year, will receive water daily.
"Water level in all four dams has gone considerably up. Since water level is satisfactory in all the dams, we have decided to withdraw the water cuts and from Monday the city will receive water on daily basis," said Girish Bapat, Guardian Minister for Pune district.
PMC ordinarily draws 1200 MLD (million litres per day) water. During the water cuts, it drew 850 MLD.
With the restoration of full supply, the stand-off between political parties barring the BJP and the district administration for the last one month also ends. The parties were demanding immediate roll back of cuts since the start of the season.
The total water stock in the four dams which supply water to Pune (Varasgaon, Panshet, Temghar and Khadakwasla) is over 26 TMC now.
