Water flow in Munak canal stopped to find bodies of two youths

Flow of water in Munak canal was today stopped and diverted for sometime on the orders of the Delhi government to facilitate search for the bodies of two youth who were believed to have drowned.
Yesterday, two youth had gone missing in Bawana and their motorcycle was found near the canal.
Authorities suspect that they might have drowned while taking a bath in the canal.
Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who visited the spot and met the family.
"The divers were looking for their bodies, but could not find it. So, we decided to stop the flow of canal. People might face a bit of a problem, but the least we could do is that the grieving families could get the bodies of their loved ones," Sisodia said.
The water from Munak canal water is taken to the treatment plant in Bawana, from where it is provided to the rest of the city.
The water was diverted to the Western Yamuna canal.
