According to the water level chart of seven reservoirs that supply water to Mumbai, issued by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today, as on June 26, 96,665 million litres water was available as compared to 3,32,647 million litres on June 26, 2015.
"There has been decent rainfall for the last few days in the catchment areas, but it is not satisfactory, specially if we compare lake (water) level of present day with corresponding period last year. We are keeping a close watch on the situation," BMC Deputy Municipal Commissioner (General Administration) Sudhir Naik told PTI.
As per BMC weather stations, Mumbai recorded 65.06 mm rainfall, eastern suburb received 72.97 mm and western suburb 61.52 mm in the last 24 hours.
According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, Colaba (south Mumbai) received 122.4 mm rainfall, while Santacruz (western suburbs) recorded 85 mm rains in the last 24 hours.
The seven reservoirs that supply water to Mumbai are Modak Sagar, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi, Upper Vaitarna, Bhatsa and Middle Vaitarna.
