Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has warned people of Uttarakhand about water scarcity increasing during the peak of summer, but said his government was taking several steps to boost the depleting water levels.

Rawat numerated projects his government has undertaken or conceived - such as the revival Rispana and Kosi rivers, construction of a dam on Song river and the Suryadhar project - to find a solution to water-scarcity problems in the hill state.

"We do not believe in superficial solution to problems. We have to find their permanent solutions. Water problems may increase in the coming days," he said at an event here yesterday.

After necessary clearances, the foundation stone of the dam on Song river will be laid.

"The goal of the government is to provide gravity-based water to Rajpur area. The Bhauwala project will also help solve the problem of water supply. We are attacking the root cause of problems so that the future of next generation becomes safe," he said.
