Water and sewer line connections of two shopping malls, a hospital and a school were snapped on Thursday over pending dues to Noida Authority, officials said.
The action was taken on the instructions of New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) CEO Ritu Maheshwari against major defaulters who have not paid their water dues despite being served notices, an authority official said.
"Logix City Centre mall in Sector 32 owed Rs 46 lakh in water dues and its water and sewer connections were snapped on Wednesday. GIP mall in Sector 36A owes Rs 14.35 crore in similar dues and its water and sewer connections were snapped on Thursday," the Noida authority said in a statement.
"NMC Hospital in Sector 30 owed Rs 46 lakh, while Sector 40 located SD Agnel School owed Rs 40 lakh in water dues and their connections were snapped today," it said.
The authority has also snapped water and sewer line connections of five other individual units over pending dues ranging between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 21 lakh.
The snapped connections would be restored once the pending dues are cleared, the official added.
