Bhakra dam today observed water level of 1,651.32 feet as against 1,597 feet on August 15, marking an up of 56 feet on the back of moderate to heavy rain in the month of August and September, an official of Bhakra Beas Management Board said here.
Similarly, water level in Pong dam has also touched the mark of 1,378.68 feet as against 1327.83 feet as on August 15, he said.
However, current water level of water in Bhakra and Beas reservoirs is still lower than last year's level of 1681.02 feet and 1,390.26 feet respectively.
Having seen rains being still active, BBMB has also decided to allow water to be filled in both dams beyond its filling period which is September 21.
"We are still witnessing rain and there is still capacity left to be filled in Bhakra and Pong so we will allow our dams to be filled during September month," a BBMB official said.
The water filling period for Bhakra and Pong dams starts in May till September 21.
