The CPI(M) today said it would draw the attention of West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan that the Mamata Banerjee government was arresting and implicating its workers in false cases.
"We will draw the governor's attention to the spurt in number of arrests and filing of false cases against our workers by the ruling Trinamool Congress and letting off the accused," senior CPI(M) leader, Suryakanta Mishra, who is the Leader of the Opposition told reporters here.
Mishra said that he had received reports from Haldia that two councillors were implicated in false cases as also similar ones from Midnapore and Galsi in Midnapore, while fabricated stories were being circulated against the CPI(M).
The opposition leader alleged that the police had been asked not to file FIRs against ruling party workers.
"It is condemnable that the police are arresting those attacked," Mishra alleged.
