Congress today accused West Bengal government of conspiring to create a constitutional deadlock with State Election Commission and not allow panchayat elections to he held in time.
"There is a conspiracy going on. They want to create a situation to push the election process to a later date by creating a conflict with the State Election Commission to buy more time," PCC President Pradeep Bhattacharya said.
"We did not come to know about the meeting the state government held with SEC for a consensus. They are issuing a diktat and there is no concurrence," he said.
He also alleged that a year ago the TMC government had taken away the rights of elected bodies and hand them over to bureaucrats.
