The West Bengal Government has accepted the plea for voluntary retirement by Raj Kanojia, the Director General of Police and Commandant General, Home Guards, with effect from September 30 next, according to a state government notification.
Kanojia, who is also the Director General of Police, Coastal Security, West Bengal and an 1982 batch IPS officer, had prayed for voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service.
Since Kanojia has completed more than 30 years of service and has attained 50 years of age he is eligible for seeking voluntary retirement under Rule 16(2) of AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958 and the state government is competent to accept his prayer, the notification said.
"In exercise of the power conferred by Sub-Rule 2 of Rule 16 of the All India Service (DCRB) Rules, 1958, the Governor is pleased to allow Raj Kanojia to take voluntary retirement form Indian Police Service with effect from September 30, 2018," it added.
