WB govt confirms 626 temporary doctors as permanent staff

West Bengal government today confirmed a total of 626 temporary doctors in different state-run hospitals as permanent staff.
"The decision has been taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee," state Panchayat and PHE Minister Subrata Mukherjee said here today.
The state cabinet has also decided to set up some model schools in different places for the children of the state and Kolkata police, he said.
The state cabinet also sanctioned Rs 1 crore each to three major soccer clubs in the state Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting for various development of their infrastructure.
The development works would be undertaken by the state's PWD department, Mukherjee said.
State's Sports Minister Madan Mitra said that the three big clubs in the state were also given Rs 1 crore each last year by the state government for similar purpose.
A new project has also been undertaken by the state cabinet encouraging unemployed youths to be self-employed in transport sector.
Under this scheme the unemployeds selected from employment bank would be given a grant of Rs 1 lakh to purchase small vehicles to earn their livelihood, the minister said.
