Demanding a compensation of Rs 10 lakh from the West Bengal government for each family who have lost their kin to Encephalitis, state BJP president Rahul Sinha today alleged that the state government did not accept technical help offered by the Union health ministry to tackle the disease.
"After we requested the Central health minister Harshvardhan to look into what could be done to help the state to tackle the problem, the Union Health ministry had offered to help the state government by providing specialised medical team, expertise, medicines and other technical help," Sinha told reporters.
"But the state government denied to take such a help. By the term central help, this Trinamool Congress government means only money. Had the Centre given financial aid to tackle this problem they would have accepted it. But as this is a technical help, they denied accepting any such help," he said.
Sinha today met governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and demanded that the state government gives a compensation of Rupees 10 lakh to the family members of those who have lost their lives and a Rupees two lakh to the family members of those who are still suffering from the disease.
"We want the state government to give Rupees 10 lakh to those who have died and Rupees two lakh to those who are still suffering plus free and best treatment," Sinha said.
