To keep the English medium schools in the state under their control, West Bengal government is thinking of setting up of a separate board for them.
The state Education department has already started thinking in those lines to constitute a separate board for the English medium schools running in West Bengal, state Education minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters at the state secretariat today.
"We are thinking of constituting a separate board for the English medium schools here. It has been noticed that the schools which are under the ICSE do not abide by the rules set by state education department and only go by the rules set up by the Centre," Chatterjee said.
The minister further stated that the step would be taken for the sake of the innumerable students in the state who were studying in these schools.
However, if these schools start following the rules set by the state government there would be no requirement for setting up any separate board, Chatterjee said.
"If they start following the state education department's rules and regulations then there will be no need to form a separate board," he said.
