WB govt reshuffles four district police chiefs

With the Birbhum Superintendent of Police C Sudhakar sent on compulsory wait after being removed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal government today reshuffled a number of top district police officials.
Darjeeling Superintendent of Police (SP) Kunal Agarwal who was posted to Birbhum in place of Sudhakar yesterday was shifted as SP of Jalpaiguri district, state secretariat sources said.
Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi, SP of North Dinajpur was shifted as SP Darjeeling, while Amit Jawalgi, SP of Jalpaiguri has been posted as SP North Dinajpur, they said.
Angry with the police for not seeking remand of the 13 accused in the gangrape of a tribal girl at Labhpur, Banerjee had yesterday ordered removal of Birbhum district Superintendent of Police C Sudhakar.
Sudhakar had been sent on compulsory wait after being removed from the post.
