WB govt urges Jaitley to waive loans of potato farmers

The West Bengal government today urged Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to waive bank loans taken by potato farmers of the state considering their plight, state secretariat officials said.
As the state has recorded a bumper crop this year, potato farmers were not getting adequate price of their yield.
Informing Jaitley about the situation, the state government asked him to arrange for loans for those farmers who have Kisan Credit Cards, the officials said.
