WB: Mob of women foils police bid to rescue abducted minor

A broom-wielding mob of around 30 women today foiled police's bid to rescue a minor girl allegedly abducted by a youth in North Kolkata.
The family of the 15-year-old girl in a police complaint had alleged that she was abducted by Rajib Das (22) on Friday from their house in Dhantala area of Nadia district.
Rescue efforts were launched when police tracked her somewhere in the Shyampukur area limits with the help of mobile phone locater.
However, when the girl was being brought back, a group of around 30 women with broomsticks blocked their way. They overpowered policemen and took the girl with them, a police officer said.
Though later in the day, the girl along with some locals presented herself at a local police station.
A case has been registered against the women under relevant sections, including kidnapping, of the IPC, he said.
