West Bengal Speaker Biman Banerjee today asked the state government to check whether the national anthem was insulted during the IPL final.
The IPL final match was played at the Eden Gardens here yesterday.
After the issue was raised by Congress MLA Asit Mitra during Zero Hour in the House, Banerjee said he had not seen it personally and asked for a CD of it.
He said the sports minister should take up the issue with the relevant authorities.
Mitra said the "manner" in which the anthem was sung ahead of the match caused an insult to it and demanded strict action against those involved.
