The newly-formed West Bengal Highway Development Corporation (WBHDC) has appointed consultancy firm PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to draft a toll policy for state highways.
"The state does not yet have a road tolling mechanism. PwC has been appointed to draft a policy in this regard which will be submitted in 10 to 15 days," MD of WBHDC Manoj Agarwal said at an interaction organised by MCC Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today.
He said the draft policy would be then sent to the state Cabinet for approval.
Agarwal said WBHDC, since its inception three years ago, had undertaken six road and road over bridge (ROB) projects involving a cost of Rs 1,250 crore.
He said the entire funding would be done by the state government and preparation of detailed projects reports (DPRs) had been already given to the consultants.
"Seven more projects are in the pipeline," he added.
