In a letter to the council, Bangiya Christiya Pariseba, a united state forum of all denominational Christians, said, "it is astonishing to note that the date for the JEE 2014 has been set on April 20, which happens to be the Easter. We are being flooded with complaints over telephone from across the state."
It said that Easter, like Good Friday and Christmas, was of high religious significance to all Christians, adding that no person belonging to Christian community should be barred from practising religious rites and be compelled to open their institutions on that day, discharge his/her duties or sit for any kind of examination.
