The present turnaround in Bengali films calls for a 'Bah' with so much variety in content and treatment and freshness of thoughts, superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee has said.
"More than we, it is you the audience, the singers in a musical, the cast and crew everybody who is egging us on," Prosenjit said before the star-studded premier of Hanuman.Com, the first Indian film shot extensively in Iceland and the first Bengali flick with such an international look.
"We are all working to hear the one word 'Bah' from the discerning audience. The entire Bengali film industry is working. And so there are not one hero in presentday flicks, but many," the actor, having his career spanning over three decades, said.
Crediting musician Indradeep Dasgupta for coming up with a Bengali but yet global soundscape, in a true fusion of Tagorean numbers and other tracks with western musical pieces, Prosenjit said, "Bengaliness at the core, in essence and yet global in outlook," that is the USP of our films.
The SRK of Bengali movies will be leaving for Singapore today for walking the red carpet along with popular German actor Saskia Ranwing and other leading names of Tollywood at the Hanuman.Com global premier in Singapore Golden City, the past venue of all important Hollywood South-East Asia premiers.
"We plan to regularly hold screening of the film from mid December in Singapore. It has that captive audience, we know Bengali movies have," producer Namit Bajoria of Cinenine said.
