Pakistan were whitewashed in the three-match series with no Test going into the fifth day and since Whatmore took over as coach in March last year, the team has not been able to win any of six Test matches.
Whatmore told Pakistani journalists in Ireland that losing Test series to Sri Lanka and South Africa was not a concern for him.
"One-day cricket is a totally different ball game and we have a good one-day side although I would say our Test squad is more settled," he said.
Whatmore said the team would miss the services of injured pacer Umar Gul but it still has enough firepower to do well in the eight nation June 6-23 event.
"We are placed in a tough group but this is 50-over cricket and it will all come down to how well we execute our plans on the match day. Otherwise we have some very talented and some very experienced players in the squad," he said.
