Weather advisory issued in the Valley

Authorities in the Valley today issued a weather advisory asking people living in flood-prone areas and on embankments of rivers and streams to shift to safer places to avert any untoward incidents.
"Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal has enjoined upon all deputy commissioners, all concerned heads of departments and district superintendents of police to further reinforce their manpower and machinery and to be in a state of full preparedness so as to minimise disruption of essential services and road connectivity and take immediate measures to evacuate people trapped in flood areas," an official spokesman said.
He said the advisory comes after the MeT department here forecast moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers and snowfall over higher reaches till Saturday which may trigger landslides and flash floods in vulnerable areas of the state.
Kansal also asked all the deputy commissioners to advise the people living in flood-prone areas and on embankments of the rivers and streams to shift from their houses to safer places, so as to avert any untoward incidents.
The deputy commissioners have been directed to oversee the functioning of the joint control rooms in their respective districts.
Flash floods in Jammu region have claimed 13 lives so far as five more persons including an army jawan died in it Poonch and Reasi district. Over 128 people have been resuced till now, officials said.
