Defending the state government's decision to start a web portal pertaining to Madrassa Board, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Minority Welfare Baldev Aulakh today said the move was aimed at improving the madrassas.
"How to improve the madrassas and how to get the correct information about the madrassas. The madrassa portal was launched on August 18.
"The previous governments had indulged in looting the funds of madrassas, and they were least bothered about the money going to the madrassas, and how it was being spent," Aulakh told reporters here today.
In a bid to check "irregularities in madrassas", the Uttar Pradesh government had launched the portal of UP Madrassa Board for online registration of all such Islamic institutions.
"There were a number of complaints of irregularities in madrassas and it was decided to make the registration online so that details of all madrassas, their management, teachers, etc are available online," UP Waqf Minister Mohsin Raza told reporters here.
Elaborating further he said, "The government of Yogi Adityanath is a transparent government. When our government is paying the salary of the madrassas and scholarships, then we want to know whether the money given by the state government is utilised properly. Hence we are gathering the correct information through the portal."
The minister on this occasion also said, "Hindi is our mother tongue. Nearly 90 per cent of people do not know Urdu, hence we want that along with Urdu, the madrassas should write their name in Hindi as well, so that more and more people can know about them.
