The Kisan Morcha of BJP's West Bengal unit Tuesday staged a protest rally against the worsening law and order situation in the state.
West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said democracy is under threat under the present TMC regime.
"Democracy is under threat in TMC regime. Everyday our party workers are either being killed or attacked. The opposition parties don't have any democratic right neither inside assembly nor outside. This is really shameful. That is why we are staging this protest rally," Ghosh said.
The farmers in West Bengal are in distress. The farmers are not getting the price of their crops. There is a accute agrarian crisis in the rural areas, he said.
The Kisan Morcha's rally which started from the BJP party office in central Kolkata was scheduled to march towards the West Bengal State Assembly, which is presently in session. But it was stopped midway at Rani Rashmoni Road following which a scuffle broke out between BJP workers and police officials.
Later on police was able to pacify the BJP workers and they left the venue after raising slogans against the state government.
