West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday pitched for investments from German businessmen, making a case for the state's strategic location, skilled workforce and availability of land bank.
Addressing an audience of German industrialists at Frankfurt, Banerjee said that both the countries share a lot of common interests.
"We have the best of relations between both the countries. Germany is excellent in manufacturing, economic activities and football. West Bengal loves football, too," she said.
The CM projected West Bengal as a "strategic location" and a gateway for many South and South East Asian nations like Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
"Bengal is the heart of eastern India and also of the north-eastern states," she said.
The state was number one in skill development, MSMEs, agriculture, e-governance and ease of doing business, and has land bank and land map, the chief minister said.
Banerjee is currently on a 12-day visit to Germany and Italy.
