"We are presently selling our surplus power to states like Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Rajasthan. From next year, we will sell around 2,500 units of power to Bangladesh," Gupta told reporters after a departmental review meeting at the Bakreshwar Thermal Power Plant (BTPP).
The state government has already received permission to start construction work of the sixth unit of BTPP from the Centre and after completion of the unit, it would produce 500 MW of power, Gupta said.
The minister also stressed that a coal price regulatory authority should be constituted by the Centre at the earliest.
