Mercury plummeted by one to three degrees Celsius at many places following entry of western disturbance approaching from Pakistan and Arabian Sea, the official said.
However, Churu was the hottest place with the maximum temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The western disturbance is causing dust storm or thunderstorm with rains at isolated places in the state and this will last till May 12, he said.
Jaipur, having a maximum temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius, also experienced dust storm late in the afternoon and drizzles in parts of the division.
The western disturbance will show high intensity dust storm, thunderstorm or squall in next 24 hours in the state, a forecast said.
