: The countrys first broad gauge air conditioned (AC) local train has completed two years on Wednesday and it has earned Rs 40.

The first AC local is fitted with indigenous 3- phase propulsion system of BHEL arrived in Mumbai in May 2017.
After undergoing various safety trials for months, it was pressed into public service from December 25, 2017.
Presently, on an average approximately 18,000 passengers travel daily by the AC local, with about 1,500 passengers travelling in each service, claimed Western railway.

During the period of two years, the total sale of tickets for AC local train was 8,43,343 out of which 6,62,565 were single journey tickets and 1,80,778 were season tickets, said Western railway release.
Presently, Western railway is operating 12 services, of which 8 fast services are between Churchgate and Virar, while three fast services are between Churchgate and Borivali.
The remaining one service runs as slow service from Mahalaxmi to Borivali.
Initially, Western railway had given limited stops to AC local at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali, Bhayander and Vasai road stations.
Later on it added new stops at Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant road, Dahisar, Mira Road, Naigaon and Nallasopara stations.
The 12-coach AC local has state-of-the-art security features consist of automatic door closing system, talk back system and fire fighting system in each coach.
